You’re invited to the digital workshop "Co-Creation With Young Voices"on 7 October 2023 from 10 am to 2 pm (MET).
Herzlich eingeladen sind Musiker:innen, die das neue Education-Projekt des Frequenz_ Festivals Kiel in Kooperation mit der britischen Mahogany Opera Group mitentwickeln wollen.
Snappy Operas sind ein ko-kreatives 10-minütiges Opernformat der Mahogany Opera Group für Grundschüler:innen zwischen 8 und 11 Jahren und sollen mit Frequenz_ weitergedacht und in Kieler Grundschulen durchgeführt werden.
Der Workshop am 7. Oktober soll
· nähere Informationen bieten, was eine Snappy Opera ausmacht, welche Philosophie und Strukturen dahinterstecken.
· Einblicke in verschiedene Beispiele von Education-Arbeit geben: Gwyneth Herbert, Komponistin und Librettistin der Snappy Opera „The World’s Beating Heart“, und Hannes Seidl, Komponist und Leiter des Education-Projekts „Tomorrow’s Entertainment“ im Rahmen vonFrequenz_ aus ihren Erfahrungen erzählen.
· die Möglichkeit zum Austausch, über die spezifischen Herausforderungen vom Komponieren für und mit jungen Menschen bieten.
· die Frage stellen, wie Kinder und Jugendliche an zeitgenössischer Musik partizipieren und sie interaktiv gestalten können.

If you’re a musician and would like to help develop a new education project of the Frequenz_ Festival Kiel in cooperation with the British Mahogany Opera Group, you’re welcome to join.
Snappy Operas are a co-creative 10-minute opera format by the Mahogany Opera Group for primary school pupils ages 8 to 11 and are to be developed further with Frequenz_ and performed in primary schools in Kiel.
The workshop on 7 October will
- provide more information on what makes a Snappy Opera, what philosophy and structures are behind it.
- give you insights into several examples of education work: Gwyneth Herbert,composer and librettist of the Snappy Opera "The World's Beating Heart", and Hannes Seidl, composer and director of the education project "Tomorrow's Entertainment" will talk about their experiences in the context of Frequenz_.
- offer the opportunity for exchange about the specific challenges of composing for and with young people.
- raise the question of how children and young people can participate in and interactively create contemporary music.
